RULES
joining and introducing yourself

Every game has rules. The rules must be read and respected in order for the game to be fun and interesting for all of us. Please make sure to read everything, and ask the staff if you have any questions.

your character's name

Before you join us, you must find a name for your character. It has to be in the Name Surname
format, with capital letters at the beginning of each. You can, if you wish, add the first letter of their middle name, as a capitalised letter between the first name and surname, and the letter has to be followed with a full stop. Don't use the name of an already existing fiction character or person like "Jane Austen" or "Han Solo". You can use names from all over the world depending on where your character is from, but try to be coherent. Also try not to use the same name as another character on the forum. A simple search in the members list will help you determine if the name you want to use is already free. Of course, in real life, sometimes people have the same name, so similar or identical names will be tolerated, but if you can avoid it, please do.

your avatar
You will also need an avatar, which is a picture that represents your character. You can try to find one in the gallery or on websites such as deviantart, zerochan, or tumblr. Your avatar has to be exactly 200x320 pixels, not more, or less. Again, do not use the same avatar as another member. Using pictures of the same character is tolerated, as long as they are from different artists and do not look identical. For scenarios, you can suggest an avatar you would like for the character, but cannot force the person playing the scenario to use it. You can change your avatar as often as you like, as long as it is still coherent to the description you've made of your character in your introduction.

double accounts
Having more than one character is authorised, but do it properly and with moderation. You have to wait for at least a month after you've created your first character to create a second one. Do not create another character if you're struggling to be up to date with the one you already have. Do not forget about your first character just because you've created a new one. For every character, you'll have to create a new account and write a new introduction.

playing the game

being present and active
This is just a friendly forum, so there is no specific frequence of activity or time limit to responses. But of course, you have to be polite to others and, if you're not going to respond to someone for a long time, please let them know so that you don't keep them waiting forever, and eventually so that they can play with more people in the meantime. You don't have to write one rp every week, but having quick answers can be nice an allows for a fast evolution of characters and of their social life. If you don't have anyone to post with, you can ask people by messages or in the social life section. Don't worry about asking people you don't know to play with you or about how good you are at this, this is all in good fun and without any pressure. Just do your best and have fun.

your profile
Once your introduction is finished and has been validated, you can finally start to play. Please make sure to fill in your profile and your character sheet so that people don't have to read your whole introduction before playing with you (some people prefer not to read introductions at all, to play in a more immersive way). Don't hesitate to fill your profile in even before being validated. The profile might sometimes seem long but it's a good way to have a quick idea of who the characters are.

posts and topics
Every post in game has to be at least 10 lines long. 10 lines isn't a lot, and writing that much just allows for a more interesting and complete game. Just describe the surroundings, your character's thoughts, don't hesitate to use NPCs. Grammar and spelling are important so please try to write correctly. Of course, everyone makes a couple mistakes here and there, so it's not a tragedy if there are a couple errors, especially since some players might not be native english speakers.

The formatting of the posts is up to you, but please try to make it clean and readable by using colours that contrast with the background colours. Usually, dialogues are written in colour and/or in bold, narration is written in the default format (no bold or italics) and thoughts are written in italics. Make sure to let your texts breathe by changing lines, for example. If your post is specifically for another player, make sure to add [PV. their name] or just [their name] in the title, so that other people know not to respond. If you're okay with anyone posting in the topic, then just put [free].

Violent contents are authorised, but make sure to add a trigger or content warning in the title, like [violent], [graphic] or [hard]. Sexual content is also authorised but make sure to be subtle and not pornographic. Also add content warnings in the title such as [hot], so that most sensitive people know not to read the posts. If it gets explicit, use the
Code:
[hide][/hide]
code so that only you, your partner and the staff can read what you've written.

outside the game and respect.

respect and plagiarism
Just make sure to respect each other. Insults of any kind are authorised in-game but be careful in the flood or chatbox, especially if you're talking with someone you don't know very well. If you have any problems just inform the staff and we'll try our best to help you resolve them. Also make sure to differentiate in-game and out-game relationships, an ennemy in the game isn't one in the flood.

Plagiarism is of course forbidden, so if you are using code or pictures, try your best to credit the original creator.

flood and chatbox
The flood is open to all, and you're free to post in the flood or participate in the games even if you haven't been validated yet. Of course, that doesn't mean you should do that over responding to your rps or completing your introduction.

The chatbox is also, obviously, open to all but please be nice to each other on there. You can do instant-rp in the chatbox as long as it isn't bothering anyone else that might be present. Otherwise, please take it to the PMs or any other communication network.
